Cooking Calculators

Ingredient-specific converters for baking and cooking — convert grams to cups, cups to grams, tablespoons to grams for 48 ingredients, plus oven temperature conversions. All free, all instant.

Accurate measurement is the backbone of good baking. Because every ingredient has a different density, a cup of flour and a cup of sugar weigh completely different amounts — which is why generic volume-to-weight tables fall short. These calculators use ingredient-specific density data so your conversions are always correct. Use the search box to jump straight to any tool.

Why Ingredient Density Matters

One of the most common baking mistakes is treating all ingredients as if they weigh the same per cup. They don't. A US cup of all-purpose flour weighs about 125 g, while a cup of white sugar weighs 200 g — 60% more. Swap a generic table for a measurement from a recipe that uses weight and you'll end up with a completely different result.

The difference comes down to bulk density — how tightly a substance packs into a given volume. Powdery ingredients like flour trap air and pack loosely; dense liquids like honey fill every gap. Even the same ingredient measured differently (sifted vs. spooned vs. packed) can vary by 20–30%.

All calculators on this site use ingredient-specific density values, not generic approximations. Whether you're scaling a recipe from cups to grams for a kitchen scale, converting a US recipe to metric, or measuring small amounts by tablespoon, these tools give you the numbers that actually match what you'll put in the bowl.

Ingredient 1 Cup (g) 1 Tbsp (g)

White Sugar 200 g 12.5 g
Butter 227 g 14.2 g
